Australia continued to roll on as Britney performed her 2nd show in Perth at Burswood Dome.

But it’s had its fair share of controversy over the past few days. From Thursday, even before the concert had kicked off, the media in Australia had already criticised the pop star for lip-syncing. This issue had been raised after politician Virginia Judge (Minister of Fair Trading, NSW) put forward her 2 cents worth saying that the public had been mislead, and wanted fans to know exactly what they could expect from the show.

“It is Britney’s ‘prerogative’ to lip-sync, and it is my job to make sure consumers know what they are paying for up front.”

The Australian media were quick to jump onto it, and reported that the cost of the tickets was not justified for a “glorified miming act”. Paul Dainty, Director of Dainty Entertainment Consolidation had defended Britney’s show.

"I did go to the show in America with a degree of cynicism, as anyone would because of (what) we’ve read and heard, but she was absolutely fantastic"

Bryan Batt plays creative director Salvatore Romano on AMC's Mad Men, and he's emerged as one of the show's most unambiguously sympathetic characters. A talented and expressive professional, he's also a deeply closeted gay man in an era and culture that keeps him very much on the down low -- even to himself.

Title: They've got a comm troll...
Author: fawsley
Characters: Sam, Gene, mention of various others including implied Aragorn/Boromir
Rating: cracky green Cortina crossover silliness
Word count: 370
Disclaimer: All the property of the BBC, Kudos, Bernard Cornwell and JRR Tolkien
Summary: Manchester faces disaster, but there's still time for Sam to instruct Gene on political correctness.
Notes: I thought all my fics were here on the comm but realised that this one wasn't. It's from a couple of years ago when there was a spot of nastiness going on, in reaction to which I wrote probably the only (thankfully) Mars/Sharpe/Lord of the Rings crossover...

It's been a long time since I've done casting and after watching Beauty & the Beast and picspamming about it, I really wanted to watch all the other films including ones that I'd forgotten all about (Hercules, The Lion King) and the ones that I've never seen (Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame) and then in my boredom I started wondering who should play who in the live action version of these films...
No one told me I was going to find you, unexpected what you did to my heart, when I lost hope you were there to remind me, this is the start... )

I'm thinking of following this spam up with a villians casting--- and maybe other characters that are not royalties. Because I have some seriously mad/talent/perfect/amazing people to play some of my favorite villians--- Gary Oldman for instance. Daniel Day-Lewis. And I am having some major excitement with the casting of Maleficent and Hades mostly because Maleficent is so freaking awesome. And Hades as well. Oh and the Queen from Snow White is particularly difficult to cast because I really don't want to pick someone old.

Comments are loved! Questions?
Do not steal anything from here or you'll fall into the pits of fire just like that dick Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame. </div>

While this isn't MAC related nor was it done for Halloween, it is still make-up related...so I thought I'd share it with the rest of you and see what you all think of it.:)

This past week I spent Monday, Tues, and Wednesday applying moulage make-up to civilian and military role players for a simulated earthquake disaster for the Army and National Guard in Tonawanda, NY.

Here is the link to my Flickr.com photostream where I just posted all of my photos from Tues. and Wednes. of the moulage I and another make-up artist applied to the role players:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/elvensphinx/

Here's a teaser photo to wet your appetite and curiosity.
-two bullet hole wounds I did on a civilian role player's lower leg:

We had limited supplies to work with:
*A decent selection of latex and rubber prosthetics from bullet wounds, burns, deep scratches, etc. to an eye ball hanging out of someone's head.
*We applied the prosthetics with liquid latex and at times used wax to help try to conceal the edges of the prosthetics, or we just used the wax to create up-raised textures for burns, scratches, etc.
*For bruising and other colors we only had grease paints available and in a limited selection of colors.
*The first day we only had our fingers and tissues to use, by the second day we had some foam sponges and one very cheap children's paint brush -only one for two make-up artists working on over 20 people, and Q-tips.
-I found that my fingers worked best for me, anyway.
*We had several large bottles of fake blood, as well as little tubes of more congealed looking fake blood.
*No setting powders or even baby powder to mattify the grease paint.
Though we did have some fake dirt and charcoal powder, we didn't use those much as they weren't really helpful.
*To clean up all we had were tissues, some napkins, and baby wipes with some hand sanitizer.

Definitely an educational experience, one that I'm glad I now have, but not the best settings or supplies...not ideal.

Title: Charlatan, A Memoir
Fandom: Gossip Girl
Pairing: Chuck and Blair
Words: 6, 500 words
Rating: PG for now
Summary: Before theirs became an epic love story, he was just a boy falling for the one girl he couldn’t have and she was everything he’d forgotten how to be: innocent, vivacious, true. From a world of lies, games and pretending to be anything and everything except who you really are emerges a Chuck Bass no one believed he had in him. No one that is, except for her— Blair Waldorf.

Chuck Bass doesn’t do memoirs—but if he did? Well, then, I suppose it would go a little something like this…

Hi me again doing my weekly catch-up! Can anyone direct me to a DVD release with COMPLETE uncut episodes of Ashes to Ashes?  Perhaps the BBC released DVD sets? Series 2 of Ashes is half-way through, here in Australia.  But I've heard from those who've seen it on Youtube that many scenes are cut each episode!!!! The episodes are only 55 mins long (prob a bit shorter sometimes with the trailers etc).

The ABC in Australia has released a DVD set of series 1 and I can't find out if they have the complete version of the episodes.  I'd like to find out if the BBC DVD release in the UK has the complete episodes? Thanks.

Something else for your Chrissy stocking is a great book called 'The Calendar Girls Story' .It includes lots of pics including several of Our Phil. In particular is a lovely full page colour pic of Phil as Lawrence setting up his tripod (um..yeah...moving right along..).  I would have scanned the pics for you but it's not the sort of book you can put flat on a scanner.
Phil's only mentioned in passing in the text but it's a great read anyway about the real calendar girls, the main actors and the making of the movie. Lots of great pics of most of the actors on and off set and of the beautiful Yorkshire locations.  I bought book on recent visit to Harrogate in Yorkshire, UK - from the Information/Visitor centre there. If  anyone is interested and you can't find it elsewhere, you could contact the Information Centre for a copy or the publishers.
Details are: 'The Calendar Girls Story'  by Jim Simpson and the real Calendar Girls, with a forweward by Julie Walters. Published by Dalesman Publishing in 2004 (www.dalesman.co.uk). All royalties donated to the Leukaemia Research Fund.

Can someone please tell me how often Phil appears in the movie 'Kingdom of Heaven?' I settled down to have a lovely night of Phil watching when I recently hired the DVD .  But the only bit I saw Phil in was near the start where he rides up to these people burying a girl and says something like 'Clear the road if you will.'  Didn't even realise it was Phil at first and he is pretty much in darkness.  I watched rest of movie hoping but was dissapointed to not see Phil again. Terrible to be all keyed up for Phil and being let down like that.  Wouldn't have been so bad if I really liked the movie but not my cuppa tea.  I'm hoping it was an edited version and there's another out there of Phil doing more of his stuff for King and Country. Help!

But wait! There's more! (NUDITY behind cut) )

Source(s)

I know this isn't the full spread, but I thought it would still whet the appetite. Also, I'm linking to the tfs post(s) and paraphrasing what I read, because I'd rather not source The Daily Heil, at least not directly. :) I hope that's alright.

When I did my last half marathon I was determined to get a good time. So I actually said it out loud to people, instead of claiming the false modesty that I, and others tend to.

You know the sort of thing " Oh, I'm not expecting to do too well in this 10k.." and then blasting 36 minutes!

Well I realise that this can be a form of a defense mechanism and I've used it myself - until the last race, when i thought that for once I would think positive.
I'd worked hard, trained consistently so why not?.

So I put it out there.

'I want a sub 1:30 half marathon'

...and I got it.

So in light of the above diatribe (sorry!) I would just like to say this...

'Next year, in April, at my first marathon (Stratford) I would like to go sub 3:20.'

Now that feels better! Thanks for listening.
